01
Online hate is a heavy subject, and YWCA Canada wanted to reach young people without frightening them. The video had to cover fake images, stolen personal information and harassment. It also had to say with care who is targeted most. The ending still needed to feel hopeful.
02
The video opens on young people in a park, looking at their phones. Hate messages start to appear and one girl sinks into a dark place. Her friends come to her side. Phishing and ransomware are shown as simple visuals. The last scenes return to a safe and happy online life, then introduce the BlockHate project across Canada.
